Insanity Workout Day 7

Image
alarm clock

So I kind of felt like smashing the alarm clock this morning. I was so exhausted last night, but I could not fall asleep. Go figure!

Ok so Monday morning Day 7 of Insanity! Cardio Power and Resistance. Warm up is still kicking my butt. I did feel a lot better and rested after my day off. I almost felt guilty for not doing anything on Sunday, but chores around the yard made up for that lol.

Even though its only been a week I can say I feel tighter and a bit stronger. This workout for me was a little bit easier then the rest, don’t ask me why. The one thing I notice is my feet get really really tired. Just shows that I am working all those balancing muscles that never get worked on. I could feel my core more during the routine which is great. That really helps with the form and getting a better workout. I would do a few good solid sets then get sloppy and take a break to get back to the good form. I was dripping with sweat this morning so that was great. Still cold enough where I could see my breath. I should be thankful, because I am sure it will start getting real hot and balmy in my garage soon. I guess thats when I will really shed the pounds hehe.

All in all a great way to start the week. It’s funny I actually get a bit excited for the next days workout. I wake in the middle of the night, like is it 6 yet?
Lets see how long I can keep that up.

Insanity Week One Over

freezing

YES!! I made it. I really thought getting up at 6 AM on a Saturday was going to be the end of me. Well… it almost was. The night before my wife is telling me that the wind chill is supposed to be at 18. I really didn’t believe it! Remember I do my Insanity Workouts in my detached garage. There is no insulation or heat!! Doh!
So I roll out of bed and bamm its 27 Degrees F. YEY! So I go into the bathroom and take this tiny room heater we use and stick it out in the garage for about10-15 minutes just to get it a bit warmer in there.
Did it work? Eh it helped a little bit.

So onto the workout. Oh wait before the workout I wanted to block the vent I have in the garage wall for ventilation to keep the cold air out. Of course reaching up there I pull something in my back. Great way to start the workout!

So I had full gear on, shorts, workout pants, and a hooded sweatshirt, which I usually shed after the warm up, but not today. I kept it on the whole time. I could see the steam coming off my head. Ha!

So on Day 6 it is back to the plyometric cardio circuit which was my first real taste of Insanity after the fit test. I was feeling pretty good getting into it and I really wanted to push because I knew my diet was going off the charts today because of a party I was going to in the afternoon and the UFC 111 fight later that night where a few beers were bound to find their way into my belly. ; -)

I was still struggling with a few of my own little breaks here and there while trying to keep good form. Then came the level 1′s where you have to do the 4 push ups then run while in push up position. All of a sudden I start getting pain in my left knee. Its backkkkkkkk. Good old tendinitis. I occasionally get it in my shoulder and my knees when I start to push my body which I have all week. It really sucked because it really hurt. I wanted to push through but the last thing I wanted to do was injure myself. I did push on through, but I had to really take it easy at the end there and just tried to keep up with the push ups.
The only good thing is that the tendinitis typically goes away. I also take a product called Flexcin from “SHAMELESS PLUG HERE” http://www.zerojointpain.com/ and it works great for my tendinitis when I am taking it. Hehe. Of course I have not been, but I put my order for 3 months in again today. The stuff is great and if you suffer from arthritis, tendinitis or issues like that, then Flexcin is the stuff! Trust me. I have been using it on and off for 2 years…. Anyways the rest of the day my knee was hurting a bit especially with the stairs. I took a few omega 3 pills and rubbed some BIO-FREEZE on it and the pain seemed to go away about an hour later.

Since I am writing this post on Sunday “my day off & day to sleep” I say this! Don’t stay up late on Sat night watching UFC 111 on PPV lol. I didn’t get to bed till 1Am and was up at 7am with my baby boy! So much for recovery. I did sneak a 2 hour nap in from 9-11 and feel a lot better.

I almost feel guilty for not doing some sort of workout today, but I know that rest and recovery is crucial in getting stronger and in better shape, so I will enjoy my day of rest.

Can’t wait for tomorrow to get back into it!!

Day 5 In The Books

Day 5 is over and I gotta say I feel good! Sore, but good. Today started off with that crazy warm up. It was tough because it was freezing in my garage this morning. I could see my breath and when I was doing those stretches where you raise your arm up I could see steam coming off my head lol. Guess that means I am working hard!

I went into the workout still sore, but I have to say I felt stronger! I would start strong, but die out which is ok. Baby steps ya know. I would get these boosts of energy then fade out, but at least they were there unlike the previous few workouts. Pure cardio was killer today! No breaks ughhhhh. Well of course I took my own… even the people on the video were breaking left and right. Cmon guys dig deep your on TV jeesh!! Hahah jk!

All in all it has been a great first week of Insanity! Actually what am I saying I still have Saturdays workout, doh! That will be the tough one. Will I actually get up at 6am on a Saturday to finish out my week? I better. It is really the only time I will have tomorrow to do it, so I guess tonight is gonna be an early night. All good.

Recovery? Im Waiting…

question

Recovery? Huh!! OK so I can see the benefits of this cardio recovery workout! Slow moves concentrating on form and core. Stretching out all those sore muscles I have beaten up the last few days.

I gotta say though, the squats were killer, especially when he is like hold it lol. Pulse em Pulse em! Shaun your killing me.

If you read my first post you will know I have cleared out my garage and doing the Insanity Workout in there. I have a concrete floor with the material you put between laminate floor and the base floor. Its not very thick and does not give much, but it’s better then straight concrete. I remembered I had those square foot puzzle piece pads in the basement so I put them down under the base material which gave me a nice 5ft wide x 3ft area of padding. It felt nicer to be on that and I can’t wait to see how it will feel while jogging in place tomorrow.

I have to say I feel sore, but I feel stronger and more full, like oh yeah I have muscles there lol. They are starting to come back alive. I know I am a week or two out from really having better control and strength with my core. As of now I try to focus on the muscle groups as I workout, but just getting through it is the goal. I can totally see how this will help out in other activities such as my basketball and even running. I don’t run, I have no desire to really run, but my buddy Mike is a big time runner and he has told me his runs are so much easier and better after finishing his Insanity Circuit. Check out Mikes Blog post about his running times here. http://www.irundoyou.com/running-times/

It’s is good too know the insanity workout is gonna boost you in other areas as well. I’ve been informed that the Pure Cardio tomorrow is tough and there are no breaks!! Arghh!!!!! Can’t wait for it!

Holy Soreness Batman!!

holy-pow-batman
holy soreness

Day 3 and I am crying like a baby. At least that’s what my wife said.
Last night I was getting real tight in my calves, so I did some stretching. I was debating taking a day off since getting injured really wouldn’t be fun! So.. did I? No way man!! The alarm went off at 6am and the wife said you getting up or what. She thinks I can’t push through so that was enough to get me to literally roll out of bed!

Today was day 3 of the insanity workout and the Cardio Power and Resistance workout. I tell ya the warm up whooped me again! I was getting worried I would not be able to get through it as my calves were tight and burning, but after the warm up the pain sort of went away… sort of/ ; -)

For some reason today’s workout did not seem as hard as day 2, but I was still taking extra water breaks and struggling. The knee jumps were tough, but I paced myself. I found myself trying to push out a certain number then take a few second break. I find if I don’t do that I start getting sloppy with form and that is where injury can occur.

One of the toughest things for me today was the tricep work. My triceps were burning bad! That’s a good thing, but I could not believe it!

I gotta say right now I am beat! Soreness all over lol, but I do feel tighter and can’t wait to keep at it. See ya tomorrow for day 4 and cardio recovery. Ahh some recovery lol.

Insanity Workout Day 2

Helppp!! OK so it’s not that bad… or maybe it is! Too make it worse I went and played basketball last night for a little over an hour. I was just starting to feel some of the soreness from the fit test, but I felt great playing basketball!

So this morning I was sore, but excited to start Day 2 of insanity, plyometric cardio circuit. I have to be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect. The warm up started and just kept going. lol. I was like I thought this was the warm up! I think there were 3 warm up circuits, maybe 4. Regardless I was getting tired during the warm and even during some of the stretching. Yikes! I was dripping sweat and the real circuit hadn’t even started.

Right off the bat I could tell my legs especially my calves were sore from yesterdays fit test and playing basketball so it was hard to get moving, but I pushed on through. I felt like a spaz doing some of the movements. The Heisman move for some reason I just can’t make it feel smooth. I’ll get it sooner or later! All I can say is that I was praying for those water breaks to come sooner. I found myself taking making my own breaks throughout the whole circuit, but my heart was pounding and I was dripping with sweat so knew I was getting a work out for sure. The squats were really punishing my quads, but it was a good burn. When we finally switched to the punching in place exercises it was a relief, but Shaun T still had some tricks under his sleeve. All in all it was a great workout and another day of Insanity whooping my butt!

I feel great right now 3 hours later, but I can tell my body is tired! Its all good! This just motivates me to keep pushing on. All I can say is that I am going to bed and hour or two earlier tonight!

The Fit Test Day 1

meb4insanity

Well… It’s about time. The DVD’s have been sitting on the desk for months. My biggest thing was that I did not have room to do insanity, but after seeing the results my neighbor got from the insanity workout I had to figure out a way to dig deep! ; -) I am 6’3″ and my basement ceiling is about 6’5″ so it really wasn’t going to work. So… I cleaned out the garage, put down some carpet and finally got down to business this morning! Check the video below of my new Insanity Dojo lol.

How much room do I need for the Insanity Workout?

Again it’s not much, but it will get the job done!

On to the Fit Test

I knew what to expect since my neighbor has done the first 60 days already and is on to his next cycle. Click Here for Mikes Insanity Adventures!

So as someone who hits the gym and plays basketball a few times I week I figured I would be able to plow through the fit test. Nope didn’t happen. After the nice little warm up it started! I have to say it was fairly fun and I was definitely not used to working like that. The Tanya chick fired me up cause she totally whooped me hahah. Anyways it showed me I have some work ahead of me. I was a little bit nauseous, but not too bad. It was 6:30 so I mean c’mon my body was like “WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME!!”

Here are my fit test results.

1. Switch Kicks (2 kicks = 1 rep)

* 1st Test- 47

2. Power Jacks

* 1st Test- 29

3. Power Knees

* 1st Test- 55

4. Power Jumps

* 1st Test- 21

5. Globe Jumps

* 1st Test- 8

6. Suicide Jumps

* 1st Test- 13

7. Push Up Jacks

* 1st Test- 20

8. Low Plank Oblique

* 1st Test- 24

So overall not so hot, but it was a workout for sure and all that matters is that I am sweating and burning calories which I did! Monday night is usually basketball night, so I am debating if I should play or not. My legs are feeling a bit heavy, but we shall see. I will try and report each workout day. It seems there are a lot of people out there who want to see what is involved.

I added a before picture of me below. I know you love the palm tree shower curtains! hah ; -) Lets hope we can turn that into a real smiley face 60 days from now. Don’t sweat my hairy physique as well! haha I have been in hibernation all winter.

Shaun T Insanity Workout Review

insanity workout

I was cautious going into this workout. Words like extreme and insanity tend to make me think twice, and I was a little concerned about that 90 minutes a day. On the other hand I was so discouraged with my current workout program, and not seeing the results I wanted that I figured I’d give it a try. I knew it would mean making a commitment and staying with it, and I’d have to find an extra half hour a day, but if it worked it would really be worth it.

The first commitment was getting up a half hour earlier each day. The first few days were a bit tough, but after that I was jumping out of bed, ready to go and get to it. I was totally committed. It wasn’t long and I started to see results. That surprised me, although it shouldn’t have, as I was putting in the time and effort. I was also changing up my diet, just as they had suggested and the combination of the exercise and diet were starting to work. The first thing I noticed was I started to lose inches.

In a few weeks my clothes were starting to get a bit baggy and so I went out and bought a new pair of blue jeans; something I hadn’t done in years. It felt good to be able to do that and I simply became even more motivated. Seeing results will do that to a person. All those little pockets of fat that I’d been trying to get rid of for years were slowly turning into lean hard muscle.

insanesuccess

One of the best things about this program is that it’s not as scary as it looks. Don’t get me wrong, you will work out and you will work hard, but you’ll build up to it. You’ll start out at your own pace so that you don’t over do it. You’ll learn your limits quickly, and you’ll know when the time is right to start taking it up a notch. One of the things I really enjoyed in the videos was the Recovery video. It involves a lot of stretches and you just feel fantastic after it. It gets out all the kinks, and it you have back problems, it’s wonderful for helping your back to feel a lot better.

With 10 great videos I can tell you that you’re never going to get bored with this program. They’re all great and they really get you working until you reach your peak performance level. If you follow the Elite Nutrition Plan you’ll see even more results faster than without it. You’ll learn what food to eat in order to help give your body the fuel it needs. It also has a calendar that comes with the program so that you can track your results, and that alone helps to keep you motivated.

The designer of this program is Shaun T and I have to say, this guy knows his stuff. The guy has a BA in Sports Science and combined with his love of dance he’s the perfect person to put exercise with dance steps and music together. He also travels and presents at fitness conventions around the world.

In the end, the bottom line is this program worked for me and I’m still on it. I now do it more as a maintenance program, but I like the workout so much and I’m so used to doing it, that it’s become a part of my life and my daily routine.

Although I could tell you not to worry you will see the results, you should also know that this product does come with a money back guarantee and if your not happy with the program or the results you are getting you can simply return it for a refund. You won’t lose anything by ordering this program, and if your results are anything like mine, you’ll probably be glad you did order it.
