Oh man its been a great summer so far! As you can tell I have not posted in a little over a month! Most know that I finished the Insanity Workout which you can read my review of here http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/insanity-workout-review/

I then moved onto P90x which is great as well. So week 4 of P90x I did a week of Insanity since in my opinion the Insanity Cardio is way better then p90x. After that my vacation started. hehe

Well I had planned on trying to workout a bit during vacation, but we all know how that goes. I also planned on trying to eat clean… hehe umm… I don’t think so…

It was a well needed rest. When I got back it was week 5 of P90x and some new workouts which were great. The workouts were not the best and I def got lazy. One thing I did do was get the Deluxe vids from Insanity. Insane abs, upper body and… crud I forget. I did the Insane abs and it was great.

So anyway after week 5 I hit a wall. Just no motivation. I could not get up in the morning. Remember I normally get up at 5:30am to workout. So all of last week was a waste. I did nothing, but eat crap. I am really bad when I get out of my routine. I get this mentality where I say ehhh I just start over on Monday! The bad thing about that is that could happen on Tuesday!

I am now back in business and decided to just start the Insanity Workout from scratch with some variations! On Monday I did not do the Fit Test I just jumped right into the tuesday workout. My goal will be to incorporate the Deluxe Insanity Videos into this as I go and on Mon, Wed, and Friday finish off the workouts with Ab Ripper X. I love Ab Ripper X. I can really see more definition since starting them. As for p90x I am not sure what I will do. I may incorporate some of the workouts as I go along, but we shall see.

I had taken some pictures during week 4 of p90x and you could see some more muscle for sure. I gotta find those pics and get them up.

So back at the beginning starting Insanity over again. This time around should be even better since I know the workouts and I am going into this in much better shape. Can’t wait for the next 60 days!! SSSCCCOOOO!!!!!

Sup folks? Well I decided I would post about P90X vs Insanity. If you have been reading my blog you will know that I finished the Insanity Workout and now started P90x. You can read my insanity workout review here http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/insanity-workout-review/ P90x has been great, but I think there are pros and cons to both workouts.

P90X has been great in the fact that there are weights involved where as Insanity is all using just your body.

With Insanity the intensity level is at a 10 compared to maybe a 5 in P90x. Now I am finishing up my 3rd week of P90x and have been doing a mix of the workouts. Do you think Tony Horton does the Insanity Workout? I figured I would just throw that in there lol. I am pretty sure that Tony helped develop some of the moves since there are a lot of moves in P90X that are used in the Insanity Workout, but are turned up a few notches.

As of now I have been following P90x on Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. On Tuesday and Thursday instead of PLyometrics and Yoga X I have been doing Insanity Workouts. I have swapped in, Pure Cardio, Max Cardio, Plyo cardio, and yesterday I actually did one of the core, cardio, and balance workouts. “I forgot about that core recovery week workout.. phew…”

To be honest, none of the P90x cardio type workouts hold a candle to the insanity workouts. I guess there is a reason they call it insanity! Like I have said in other posts, after the Insanity warm up I am sweating more then when I am 30 minutes into the P90x workouts. Again they are different workouts and target different goals. These are just my opinions as someone who has done Insanity first then jumped into P90x. If I had to do it all over again I might have done p90x first then gone with Insanity.

I have even thought about doing the Insanity warm ups, then jumping into the P90x workouts. I have to say that the P90x workouts are really great and I love throwing the weights around a bit. I can see a difference in muscle definition for sure! I also feel so much stronger since starting with the weights and pull ups with P90x.

What I think would be awesome is a new workout that combines all the strengths of both of these workouts, which I have a feeling we might see in the future. Shaun T and Tony Horton collaboration? Who knows, but it would be pretty sick!

All in all both workouts are great! I would say that if you are a beginner / intermediate level to working out then P90x is a good start. If you are more advanced you might want to jump right into the Insanity Workout. I considered my self intermediate to advanced and “thought” I was in pretty good shape till Insanity whooped my butt, but in a good way.

So next week is week 4 with P90x and they move away from the weights and do more cardio workouts, Yoga X, plyo, Core etc…so I am not sure what I will do next week. I may just bust out a week of Max Insanity, but I am not positive. I start my vacation next Thursday so… I’d like to get a few good workouts in before the relaxation and feasting begins… hehe

If you have done both workouts or are contemplating starting either I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Ok so Friday was legs and back and ab ripper x. Aghhhh holy cow. My legs were so sore. That was a great leg workout! You get hit from all angles and those wall squats are killer. I don’t really have a wall since I am in my garage so I had to use the edge of my work bench, which wasn’t the best, but it worked!

My legs were on fire the rest of the day and waking up on sat was not fun lol.

With legs hurting I had Kenpo X in store for me. I was really looking forward to this, because I love the punches and kicks. Tony works you out nice on this once and I was kicking, punching and blocking from all angles. The cool thing I noticed was how much more flexible I became as the workout progressed. With the beginning kicks I was struggling to really get them high and feel smooth. By the end I guess I was warmed up nice and was able to really start to kick the way I wanted too and not look like a tool

All in all both were great workouts! I love the fact that all parts of the body are being hit. Most people forget about workout out there legs or skip leg day at the gym. Your legs are such an integral part of your physique and most forget that.

Today I busted out Chest & Back, ab ripper x and felt a great pump after wards! Loving this P90x. This weekend my eating habits weren’t the best so I am really watching what I eat this week!

OK so today was YOGA X! The workout said 92 minutes so I was like oh man this is gonna take awhile, but I was pretty excited to do it, since I have never tried yoga before. Well… I guess there was a reason for that lol.

I dunno I know there are many people who like yoga, but this just wasn’t doing it for me. I know you are supposed to clear your mind and all that stuff, but all I could think about was what I was doing the rest of the day. During the other workouts I am focused on the matter at hand.

So I did about 35 minutes of yoga x and I can see how it can benefit you, but I just couldn’t continue. I decided to pop in Max Cardio and bust that out for 30 minutes. What a great sweat I got from Max Cardio. I think I will swap out yoga x with something from insanity, most likely max cardio or pure cardio.

All in all it was still a great workout!

OK so I am moving a long with P90X. I did plyometrics on Tuesday and Shoulders/Bi’s/Tri’s today.

I have to say it is a great workout and I am glad I am doing it. It is a nice change of pace from the Insanity Workout, but I have to say I sweat more 6 minutes into the Insanity warm up then I am about 25 minutes into P90x. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad thing, it is just different.

When I saw Plyometrics as the workout I did not realize it was cardio, so that was nice because after looking at the normal P90x plan I thought there were no cardio workouts. The best part is they got the guy with the One leg doing it!! If he can do it you can do it!! It was a good workout and I did get a great sweat from it, don’t get me wrong it just took a bit longer then in Insanity that’s all. It’s funny you can see a lot of moves from P90X Plyo are used in Insanity, but Insanity puts an insane twist on them!

As for today’s workout, shoulder, biceps, and triceps aghhh and then ab ribber X. Folks these workouts are pretty X-treme. It has been harder since I have needed to get up about 20-25 minutes earlier. Tomorrow is Yoga X and its like 92 minutes! Yikes, but it looks fun. Anyway back to todays workout. It was great, I had a great pump from it. Little shaky to get used to the exercises and the orders, but after the rounds I am good to go and I know the next weeks workout will be better. Only thing I did not do was write down my info which I wish I had. You should def write the weights you are using so you can 1 know what to use and move more smoothly between workouts and 2 so you can add weight or remove weight. I do like Tony he is a fun guy, I just hope I don’t go crazy listening to the same lines

As for ab ripper x! OW is all I can say. Man today I was feeling the burn in my abs hard core. I don’t think I have ever felt my abs burn like this ever! I mean it was from all angles and all areas. I guess that’s a good thing right?

All in all I am loving it and look forward to getting further. My diet has been spot on this week, but hey it’s only wed right

You can check out an overview of what is in the P90x workout over here http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/p90x-workout-review/ It’s a decent little P90x review.

Good Luck

Ok today was the day! I started P90x and I gotta tell you it was pretty awesome!
What a pump. Now if you remember I just finished the Insanity Workout which you can read more about here http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/insanity-workout-review/ So I finished up on May 23 and it is now June 7th. I took about a good solid week off of doing no workouts. I didn’t want to, but I had to do some big jobs around the house and there was just no time for working out. The other few days I busted out a day at the gym “which I quit my membership btw” and a few insanity workouts here and there. Last friday I did the Ab Ripper x and some weights in my garage. Holy cow ab ribber x killed me. To be honest I was still sore today lol. Friday night around 8pm I could not believe how my mid section was feeling.

Anyways… today was day 1 and it was chest and back. I gotta say that I did miss my Insanity warm up and the sweat that it brings on. The p90x warm up is nothing compared to insanity. I am thinking I might do the Insanity warm up then jump into the P90x moves, but I am gonna see how the first week goes.

I hope you are ready for push ups galore!! It is nuts and the pull ups too. I still don’t have a pull up bar set up in my garage, I gotta figure that out so I had to use the bands which still gave me a nice pump. To be honest I have always sucked at pull ups, so I may just stick with the bands for a few weeks and see.

I have to say that doing the Insanity workout before this def had me in better shape. I was hurting for sure, but I could see how I was much stronger in the push up moves then I would have been. If I came into P90x with nothing before this I would have been dead today. That’s not to say P90x didn’t kick my butt lol. I could barely lift my arms in the shower to wash! Ha! Now thats a workout.

I did miss the pump from the gym with Insanity so it was nice to do this moves in P90x. I am very excited to see what else it has in store for me. I also have to say that I do miss the cardio/sweating my you know what off from Insanity. I guess there is a fine balance. Maybe I will switch things up as I go along, but for now I am sticking to the P90x routine and see how it goes.

Tony Horton is a trip too. I remember his korny jokes from power 90 about 7 years ago and he hasn’t changed a bit. Gotta love it.

Until tomorrow… Dig Deep!! Oh wait… thats shaun t!! Doh! Whats Tony’s tag line… Ill have to listen closer i guess.

P90X Review

This new home exercise program is a complete package for those who want to do their workouts at home. Besides the workouts, you’re going to learn how to eat healthy and how combining that with exercise will give you a program that is guaranteed to give you the body you want and build your confidence in yourself. Based around a thirteen week program of total physical fitness this program keeps people motivated so that they are looking forward to their daily workouts.

You’re going to be absolutely shocked at the results you get and in such a quick time frame. Your muscles will become stronger and your body will be toned and in top shape. You’re going to drop fat while your building muscles mass that is lean and toned. Your going to see your stomach flatten in no time, while you begin to see ripped abs. Your metabolism is going to go into high gear to help you loose those pounds quickly and burn off all those excess calories. Your also going to have fun doing it, and you’ll find yourself totally motivated.

One thing people report that they really enjoy with this program is the teacher and coach Tony Horton. His enthusiasm is infectious and you can’t help but catch some of it. He also gives really good, down to earth advice that is practical and is easy to understand. He teaches you how not to injure yourself while exercising, so that you get the maximum benefit from each of his videos. He’ll keep you moving quickly through the exercises so that before you know it, the time is up and you’re done for the day. The great thing about using videos is that you can always press pause, while you work out your routine, and then when confident just hit play to continue. That’s not something you can do with a trainer in a class environment.

Some of the best parts of the program are what you learn. You’ll be educated in how you obtain lean muscles, and how they define your body.
