			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well we all know you can get in shape with just a pair of shoes and determination, but does that mean you should not have the best equipment you can afford? I remember taking encyclopedias and stuffing them into a gym bag and doing curls in my bedroom as a kid or filling up milk jugs with water. Ha! I used to love coming up with ways to create equipment to workout&#8230; Those days are long gone and now that I actually have a few $$ to spend and no time to be making up my own equipment I want to make sure any piece of fitness equipment I buy will be of great quality and last me a long time!</p>
<p>At my CrossFit gym I noticed a good amount of fitness equipment was from Rogue Fitness. So&#8230; I decided to do a bit of research and see what they are about.  All I can say is that Rogue Fitness has their stuff together. If you get a chance take  a look at the athlete blogs and you can see how extreme they are! Awesome stuff.</p>

<p>I have been really loving Guacamole lately. It is so good. This time I made it with some salt, pepper, diced tomatoes from a can &#8220;next time I&#8217;ll go fresh&#8221; and some lime juice from a real lime &#8220;lime juice concentrate has sulfites which I am allergic to&#8221;</p>
<p>This was my best batch of guacamole yet.  Normally I only do eggs on the weekend and after a hard workout during the week.  We had a killer WOD today at <a title="10 RFT" href="http://www.qcrossfit.com/2012/02/wod-2-3-12/">QCrossFit</a> which consisted of 10 Swings, 5 Walkout out PushUps, &amp; 5 Broad Jump Burpees. 10 Rounds for time. Let&#8217;s just say I was feeling a bit pukie after it <img src='http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' />  Time was 16:58 ugh not the best, but not the worst.</p>
<p>Anyways that was what I had for breakfast&#8230; what did you have?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So I have been going strong with the Paleo diet for almost 5 weeks now and I really do feel great. Of course I have cheated a few times, but it is all good! I can really see the fat coming off and have actually dropped a true 5 pounds of weight. Real wait not that take a dump kind of weight <img src='http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' />  sorry got a bit gross there.</p>
<p>The new CrossFit gym I have been going to has been keeping the muscle on as well which is great. As of now I am going 3 days a week. Next week they are having a nutrition talk and then a 30 day challenge so I really plan on dialing in my diet and adding 2 days of the <a title="insanity workout" href="http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/insanity-workout-review/">insanity workout</a> to my week which should really kick me into overdrive!</p>
<p>Anyway so back to the topic of this post. <strong>Desserts while on Paleo</strong>. I guess that is one of the hardest things. The late night snack or dessert food at a party. No cakes, brownies, donuts, etc&#8230;. so what do you do? Most people will have fruit or nuts&#8230; yeah I know not to amazing, but Ill tell you this, after you have not feasted on the regular type dessert foods for a few weeks, fruits taste so much more flavorful and are much more filing.</p>
<p>I wanted to show you one I have been snacking on lately. When I went to Rodizio awhile back after we feasted on a variety of meats they brought out pineapple slices with cinnamon. It was so good so I said that would be a great treat.</p>
<p>So basically what I do is get a pinapple cored which most stores will do for free for you btw and cut 2 slices. Throw in the microwave for 25-30 seconds and then sprinkle cinnamon on both sides. It is really really good!</p>
<p>I will try to add more here when  I come across them, but this is one you should totally try!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well&#8230; I am on my 4th week of eating very very clean. Remember I talked about the <a title="paleo diet" href="http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/paleo-diet/">Paleo Diet</a>?</p>
<p>Just wanted to shoot out an update of how it was going. It has been going pretty well to be honest. I have gone 3 friday nights without PIZZA! ugh lol&#8230; I know I know how could I do that. I just did and the real reason is that I feel great! I have not had a brownie, cup cake, donut, etc&#8230; for almost a month! I miss it for sure and I am coming up on a month which is usually my threshold for when I go off the wagon! So I am trying my best to have food available to eat so I don&#8217;t splurge!</p>
<p>I was happy that the CrossFit gym I go to <strong>QCrossFit</strong> is holding a <a title="paleo challenge" href="http://www.qcrossfit.com/2012/01/30-day-paleo-challenge/">30 Day Paleo Challenge</a> and having a seminar on nutrition and all that fun stuff. I really hope to learn a lot more about why eating this way is better for you.</p>
<p>I have been on this path before so who knows what will happen. Most people I talk to say I am nuts or &#8220;how can you eat like that&#8221;, &#8220;how can you not have cake, donuts etc&#8230;&#8221;, &#8220;that is way to extreme for me!&#8221; all that fun stuff.</p>
<p>Here are a few things I know.</p>
<ul>
<li>I have been feeling great! More energy&#8230; clearer head.</li>
<li>Feeling Stronger</li>
<li>Losing Fat &amp; Gaining Muscle</li>
</ul>
<p>I tell you one thing, not gorging myself with refined foods as great as they taste is a blessing sometimes. Feeling tired after eating and not having energy to play with my kid is redic!</p>
<p>So most people will tell you its extreme&#8230; but what is extreme?<br />
Extreme is getting a  a vein from your leg stitched to your heart in a bypass surgey.<br />
Extreme is not being able to count the amount of pills you take everyday for &#8220;FILL IN AILMENT HERE&#8221;<br />
Extreme is weight loss surgery.</p>
<p>I dunno maybe that was a bit extreme for me saying that, but it is how I feel now. If you see me in a few months from now and I have a gut, you have permission to kick me!</p>

I know&#8230; I know&#8230; it can be hard to follow, but I will tell you this! When I eat like this I feel so good! Normally my eating would go something like this&#8230; eat a bunch of food, eat bread, load up on the starchy carbs, then have no energy and feel so full after my meal and be craving some sugary goodness 30 minutes after I ate.  The other thing is shoving down dessert food in my mouth. Granted my self control sucks so I prob eat a double serving of what most people eat lol.</p>

Sure pretty much everyone you talk to will be like are you nuts? You can say no I just eat nuts&#8230;. wait a minute did I just say.. anyways you get the picture. The key is having food ready to eat so when you are hungry you just don&#8217;t grab something. Look below, this is what I had for breakfast this morning.</p>

<p>I was up at 4:45am this morning so I could get to CrossFit and get in a great workout! <p>So over the last few days I got to hang out with a lot of family. Of course everyone is always saying JAN 1 it all starts lol. Hey I am guilty of it to. This year I have really made an effort to not give up %100 before JAN 1, but to at least keep working out and eat fairly clean  during the week. Yes Christmas was a nightmare, but hey its all good. I guess the thing I am trying to say is not to give up completely because you would be surprised how much weight you can pack on in a few weeks <img src='http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>To bad it takes longer to lose that weight! Doh!</p>
<p>Anyways I hope to do a really in depth post come Jan 1 on all the great things I have in store for my 2012 workout regimen! It is going to be killer!</p>

<p>I am pretty excited to get started, but I am still trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I actually started a Crossfit gym this morning and man what a workout! More on that a bit later.</p>
<p>Now I am trying to figure out how I want to start with P90x 2. My garage has been getting cold! Very cold, so this is part of the reason I have joined Crossfit. So&#8230; I am going to take a week or two to figure things out and see how Crossfit works since I am now getting up at 4:45 to get there by 5:30AM ugh lol. I will be doing a post on Crossfit in a few days as well.</p>

<p>I wish I had better things to say about the 90 day challenge and that I was super ripped and what not, but alas I am not. I will prob do a full post about it next week. I do feel great and strong so that is half the battle. Lets see what Tony Horton has in store for us this time around!!</p>
