How Much Space is Needed for the Insanity Workout?

Not as much as you would think. When I first bought the Insanity Workout my plan was to do it in my basement. Well being 6’3 and my basement ceiling being only 6’6″ that really didn’t work too well for me! I was determined to find a place to do this workout, so that lead me to cleaning out my garage lol. Better excuse then any right?

Ok so here is a quick video of the garage that I do my insanity workout in.

The biggest thing I think is having the height. I haven’t measure the garage, but you can basically fit a car in there with room to just walk on either site and with my shelves its pretty much the width of a car. I am able to do 90% of the moves in the workout. There are a few I modify and a few I used the length of the garage for. As for the height it is pretty much fine. There are a few moves when you jump you are supposed to throw your hands up, but I don’t do that anymore. ;-) First time I did that I hit a nail and let’s just say that wasn’t a fun way to start a workout.

That’s really it. Don’t think you need a huge room or a gym to do this workout. If you can find a nice area the size of mine you will be just fine. I also added some padding under the carpet as well to cushion my feet since the garage is concrete. I would def recommend an exercise mat or some sort of cushioning since there is a lot of impact going on.

Next move will be to get a nice TV for the wall in there hehe. The wife will love that!! ;-)

Oh below is the padding I use under the carpet. Again you will notice it is not a huge area. Those squares or 1 foot so I have 5 across and 3 up. Most of the workout takes place right in the middle.
