Insanity Week One Over

YES!! I made it. I really thought getting up at 6 AM on a Saturday was going to be the end of me. Well… it almost was. The night before my wife is telling me that the wind chill is supposed to be at 18. I really didn’t believe it! Remember I do my Insanity Workouts in my detached garage. There is no insulation or heat!! Doh!
So I roll out of bed and bamm its 27 Degrees F. YEY! So I go into the bathroom and take this tiny room heater we use and stick it out in the garage for about10-15 minutes just to get it a bit warmer in there.
Did it work? Eh it helped a little bit.
So onto the workout. Oh wait before the workout I wanted to block the vent I have in the garage wall for ventilation to keep the cold air out. Of course reaching up there I pull something in my back. Great way to start the workout!
So I had full gear on, shorts, workout pants, and a hooded sweatshirt, which I usually shed after the warm up, but not today. I kept it on the whole time. I could see the steam coming off my head. Ha!
So on Day 6 it is back to the plyometric cardio circuit which was my first real taste of Insanity after the fit test. I was feeling pretty good getting into it and I really wanted to push because I knew my diet was going off the charts today because of a party I was going to in the afternoon and the UFC 111 fight later that night where a few beers were bound to find their way into my belly. ; -)
I was still struggling with a few of my own little breaks here and there while trying to keep good form. Then came the level 1′s where you have to do the 4 push ups then run while in push up position. All of a sudden I start getting pain in my left knee. Its backkkkkkkk. Good old tendinitis. I occasionally get it in my shoulder and my knees when I start to push my body which I have all week. It really sucked because it really hurt. I wanted to push through but the last thing I wanted to do was injure myself. I did push on through, but I had to really take it easy at the end there and just tried to keep up with the push ups.
The only good thing is that the tendinitis typically goes away. I also take a product called Flexcin from “SHAMELESS PLUG HERE” http://www.zerojointpain.com/ and it works great for my tendinitis when I am taking it. Hehe. Of course I have not been, but I put my order for 3 months in again today. The stuff is great and if you suffer from arthritis, tendinitis or issues like that, then Flexcin is the stuff! Trust me. I have been using it on and off for 2 years…. Anyways the rest of the day my knee was hurting a bit especially with the stairs. I took a few omega 3 pills and rubbed some BIO-FREEZE on it and the pain seemed to go away about an hour later.
Since I am writing this post on Sunday “my day off & day to sleep” I say this! Don’t stay up late on Sat night watching UFC 111 on PPV lol. I didn’t get to bed till 1Am and was up at 7am with my baby boy! So much for recovery. I did sneak a 2 hour nap in from 9-11 and feel a lot better.
I almost feel guilty for not doing some sort of workout today, but I know that rest and recovery is crucial in getting stronger and in better shape, so I will enjoy my day of rest.
Can’t wait for tomorrow to get back into it!!
