P90x VS Insanity
Sup folks? Well I decided I would post about P90X vs Insanity. If you have been reading my blog you will know that I finished the Insanity Workout and now started P90x. You can read my insanity workout review here http://www.gettingstrongnow.com/insanity-workout-review/ P90x has been great, but I think there are pros and cons to both workouts.
P90X has been great in the fact that there are weights involved where as Insanity is all using just your body.
With Insanity the intensity level is at a 10 compared to maybe a 5 in P90x. Now I am finishing up my 3rd week of P90x and have been doing a mix of the workouts. Do you think Tony Horton does the Insanity Workout? I figured I would just throw that in there lol. I am pretty sure that Tony helped develop some of the moves since there are a lot of moves in P90X that are used in the Insanity Workout, but are turned up a few notches.
As of now I have been following P90x on Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. On Tuesday and Thursday instead of PLyometrics and Yoga X I have been doing Insanity Workouts. I have swapped in, Pure Cardio, Max Cardio, Plyo cardio, and yesterday I actually did one of the core, cardio, and balance workouts. “I forgot about that core recovery week workout.. phew…”
To be honest, none of the P90x cardio type workouts hold a candle to the insanity workouts. I guess there is a reason they call it insanity! Like I have said in other posts, after the Insanity warm up I am sweating more then when I am 30 minutes into the P90x workouts. Again they are different workouts and target different goals. These are just my opinions as someone who has done Insanity first then jumped into P90x. If I had to do it all over again I might have done p90x first then gone with Insanity.
I have even thought about doing the Insanity warm ups, then jumping into the P90x workouts. I have to say that the P90x workouts are really great and I love throwing the weights around a bit. I can see a difference in muscle definition for sure! I also feel so much stronger since starting with the weights and pull ups with P90x.
What I think would be awesome is a new workout that combines all the strengths of both of these workouts, which I have a feeling we might see in the future. Shaun T and Tony Horton collaboration?
Who knows, but it would be pretty sick!
All in all both workouts are great! I would say that if you are a beginner / intermediate level to working out then P90x is a good start. If you are more advanced you might want to jump right into the Insanity Workout. I considered my self intermediate to advanced and “thought” I was in pretty good shape till Insanity whooped my butt, but in a good way.
So next week is week 4 with P90x and they move away from the weights and do more cardio workouts, Yoga X, plyo, Core etc…so I am not sure what I will do next week. I may just bust out a week of Max Insanity, but I am not positive. I start my vacation next Thursday so… I’d like to get a few good workouts in before the relaxation and feasting begins… hehe
If you have done both workouts or are contemplating starting either I would love to hear your thoughts about it.
